Have you ever met a real life Reg1na
George? Or that one person that g1ves you
the "stank eye" when you're look1ng for a
group of people to hang out w1th? They JUSt
bluntly state the overused, famous lme from
the mov1e Mean Gwls "you can't s1t w1th
us." Why are we so protect1ve about who
we sooahze With, where we s1t, and who
we s1t w1th? Why does 1t even matter? Our
generat1on 1s so obsessed with social status
and who is 1n each "clique," that it bothers us
when someone who we thmk looks or acts
we1rd or different (in our personal opinion)
wants to s1t or hang out w1th us. We never
know what that person is going through; they
m1ght JUSt need a fnend or someone to talk to.
An orgamzation ca.,ed the Kind Campa1gn
takes the "mean" out of mean girls (and guys)
nat1onw1de. They use the common say1ng
"you can't s1t w1th us" and changed 1t to "you can s1t w1th us." They made
cute t-sh1rts and d1d some posts on soc1al med1a to spread the awareness of
ant1-bully1ng. Some celebnt1es saw the shwts and decided to post a p1cture
on lnstagram With 1t on wh1ch tremendously helped with the awareness;
because once celebnt1es promote someth1ng the1r fans usually want to know
more abou 1t. Our school1s all about social med1a and we can help the Kmd
Campa1gn spread awareness by do1ng a random act of kindness for someone
then postmg 1t w1th #youcans1tw1thus. Next Wednesday. don't worry about
the "fetch p1nk" as critena for someone to be m your "clique." When they
want to s1t With you, JUSt put on a smile and say "You CAN Sit with us!"
