GENERAL ORDER # 74 17 November 1967
RETIREMENT
1. Master Sergeant E-8 Cecil Wilbur Register, NG 20420164, upon his
own request, having been separated from the active Florida Army National
Guard effective 30 November 1967, is placed on the Retired List of the
Florida National Guard effective 1 December 1967, in accordance with the
provisions of Section 250.21, Military Code, State of Florida, 1949,
as amended.
2. Master Sergeant Register was born 15 January 1910, at Lake City,
Florida, where he graduated from Columbia High School.
3. Master Sergeant Register began his military career by enlisting in
Company H, 124th Infantry^ 16 December 1930, at Lake City, Florida. His
service was continuous with this unit except for two whort periods
assigned to the inactive National Guard. He was inducted into Active
Military service in the grade of Sergeant 25 November 1940, with his unit
and served therein until released to State Control 28 February 1941. He
was recalled to Active Duty 20 January 1942, and departed the United States
for the European Theater of Operation 12 February 1944. He participated in
the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland, returned to the
United States 5 May 1945, and was separated at Fort McPherson, Georgia, in
the grade of Staff Sergeant, 28 June 1945. He re-enlisted in the Florida
r,
Army National Guard at Lanke eity, Florida, 27 February 1947, with Anti-Tank
Company, 124th Infantry and continued to serve therein through its various
reorganizations to its present designation of Headquarters Company
Battalion, 187th Armor in which he was serving at the time of his retirement
4. His decorations and awards include the Good Conduct Medal, American
Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with
three Bronze Service Stars, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with one Hour-
glass, the Florida Distinguished Service Medal, the Florida Active Duty
Ribbon, the Florida Service Ribbon with three Bronze Clusters, and the
Florida Drill Attendance Ribbon with four Bronze Clusters.
