GENERAL ORDERS #16 1 May 1963
RETIREMENT AND PROMOTION
1. Master Sergeant E-8 Floyd Thomas Robertson, 20420173, upon his own
application, having been separated from the active Florida Army National
Guard effective 14 May 1963, and having more than thirty years accredited
service, is placed on the Retired List of the Florida National Guard, and
promoted th Sergeant Major, Retired, effective 15 May 1963, in accordance

with the provisions of Section 250.21, Military Code, State of Florida,
1949, as amended.
2. Sergeant Major Robertson was born in Loganville, Georgia on 27 May
1912 and attended the Loganville Grammas School, Loganville, Georgia.
3. Sergeant Major Robertson began his military career 15 March 1932 when
he enlisted in Company H, 124th Infantry, Lake City, Florida. He was
inducted into the active military service with his unit 25 November 1940 but
was released to state control 28 October 1941 due to dependency and
assigned to State Detachment. He was recalled to active duty, reporting to
Camp Blanding, Florida 24 February 1942. He departed the continental United
States for the Asiatic-Pacific Threater, 14 February 1944, participating
in the New Guinea and Southern Philippines Campaigns returning to the
continental United States 17 August 1945. He was discharged from active
duty 31 Aurust 1945 in the grade of Corporal at Camp Blanding, Florida.
He reentered the Florida National Guard 15 May 1947 be enlisting in Anti-
Tank Company, 124th Infantry, Lake gity, Florida in the grade of Private.
He was immediately appointed Sergeant and has served continuously through
the various reorganizations of Headquarters Company, 1st. Battalion, 187th
Armor. He was promoted through the enlisted grades attaining the rank of
Master Sergeant E-8, 28 January 1963, which he held until retirement
14 May 1963. '
4. His decorations and awards include The Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-
Pacific Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with one Hourglass,
Combat Infantryman Badge, Florida Active Duty Ribbon, Florida Service
Ribbon with four Bronze Clusters and The Drill Attendance Ribbon with
one Bronze Cluster.
