Some Stuff I Wrote and Some Stuff I Didn't (2011) H. Morris Williams
days, Rawleigh finally went to the doctor and was immediately admitted
to the hospital.
Fortunately, an angioplasty put him in order and the first thing Rawleigh
asked the doctor was when he could get back to playing golf (as he was
doing when stricken) and bowling.
Rawleigh is back playing his sports and enjoying his family and villa in
Femandina Beach. He checks out the Players Championship every year
and goes to Augusta National when he can get a ticket.
COACHING LEGACY
Baker County High athletic director Bobby Harrison once credited
Rawleigh with the interest in sports that spawned so many coaches
coming out of the 1960s and 1970s.
Every coach at least 30 years old who came out of the Columbia County
school system-and there are some great ones-was influenced by
Rawleigh.
The legacy continues for all generations in Lake City.
Rawleigh’s favorite admonishment to an unruly sports team or school
class always included, “You bunch of rinky-dinks.”
As one of that collective group of rinky-dinks, I offer thanks to Coach
Rawleigh from us all.
