Some Stuff I Wrote and Some Stuff I Didn't (2011) H. Morris Williams

We could not operate the airport because we did not have money for the
runway lights that were badly in need of repair. Same for the runway

              surfaces.

We found one day that a portable saw mill had been set up on the SR
100 side and they were cutting down the pine trees for timber.

Morris, next time you go by the old post office building, look at the
rafters. Those were cut at our sawmill and the rounded ends cut on a

              special saw.

In Lake City, our family had a general grocery store: barrels of candy, a

meat counter, and seasonal vegetables, fruits; also tobacco products, and
              some hardware.

We also had a campground for trailers and tents. Soon we built cottages.
This place was called “Lake View Park.” And we had four large garages

to repair cars, and a gas station. Also a sawmill and planer and
lumberyard. We build cottages on the property. Blocks 320, 319, and

              318.

Ralph Powers and his family rented from us when they first arrived in

              Lake City.

Eddie Rozelle and his parents came from New York and rented from us

and made Lake City their home.

We had a very large community hall for roller-skating. Some

professional roller skaters would practice in the hall and demonstrate
              their skills.

F.W. “Shorty” Bedenbaugh, Claude Bedenbaugh, Earl Bedenbaugh, and

some other musicians would play for dances on Saturday night in the big

              dance hall.

There were some professional dancers that camped at our place and they

              would perform.
