Some Stuff I Wrote and Some Stuff I Didn't (2011) H. Morris Williams

College, 1909-1912. Bond Servant of Jesus Christ. His life was an
inspiration to all who knew him.”

Dr. Tribble’s son Harold became a minister and an educator like his
Father. That son, Dr. Harold Wayland Tribble, served as President of
                  Wake Forest University from 1950-1967.

*Former Lake Citian Sara Eunice Roy Dorety, age 89, died in Jacksonville
April 12 from natural causes. She had been a member of Southside
Methodist Church 65 years and had an international collection of priceless
stamps. Her family was well known in Lake City. One brother, Paul, had
served as mayor here and another brother, Bill, as City Councilman. Bill is
now a Naples attorney and is her only surviving sibling.

*ln 1935, Lake City Commissioner Tal Young was astonished to attend a
Commissioner’s meeting and discover that he had been fined $5 for
leaving the preceding meeting early. The commission had ordered the
fine as a joke but the Reporter’s account of that meeting said that Mr.
Young “flushed like a rose blooming in May” when he heard the city clerk
read the part about the fine in the official record.

*School Museum thanks to Tommy Browning (CHS 1961) for donating a
copy of the 1961 Future Farmers of America father-son banquet. The
names on the program will bring back lots o f memories for some readers.
Johnny Hall was the chapter president; Terry White and Jack Haltiwanger
were advisors; the FFA sweetheart was Sissy Howell; the CHS principal
was S.W. Rayburn; and CHS cafeteria manager Mrs. H. T. Downing
                  prepared the steak supper.
