REVEREND ISADORE WILLIAMS. “VOICE OF THE TIGERS"
For more than 25 years, the Reverend Isadore Williams has been the splendid
play-by-play radio announcer for our Columbia High School Fighting Tiger
football team.
During that time his rich, bass voice has been, above all others, the “Voice of the
Tigers.”
“Good evening, Tiger fans. This is the Reverend Isadore Williams welcoming
you to another exciting evening with the Pride of Columbia County, the CHS
Fighting Tigers.”
In all kinds of weather, through good seasons and bad, from “The Jungle” or
some distant sports arena, his professionalism, his fairness, and his ‘tell it like it
is” style has made us all proud to be part of the great CHS family.
For 12 years he has also been the emcee of our CHS football banquets, his ever
present smile and buoyant spirit giving a feel-good atmosphere to every banquet.
Reverend Williams ends every broadcast and every banquet with his trademark,
“How sweet it is!” reminding us how iucky we are to be part of a special school
like Columbia High School.
And now it is our turn to use his words. “How sweet it is” to announce that
Columbia High School Quarterback Club, speaking for all of us, has dedicated
the 2007 football program to our very own beloved, Reverend Isadore Williams.
Congratulations, Reverend Williams! You are the best!
THANKS, PAT PELL
Special thanks to School Food Service employee Patricia Pell who has donated
a large decorative plaque displaying the names of the past presidents of the
Columbia County School Food Service Association from 1968-69 through 2007
2008.
Some of the names on the plaque are Langdon Witt, the only man on the list;
Rhett Downing, whose homemade yeast rolls were the daily delight for many
years of CHS students and faculty; Dora Griffin, whose husband worked at the
Lake City Laundry with my Dad; Jodi Eichorn, once the SFS Employee of the
Year and now the wife of Mayor Stephen Witt; Brenda Mulhollen, who loves SFS
work-and the radio voice of FSU football announcer Gene Deckerhoff; and Pat
Pell who donated the plaque.
