was the first student editor of the first
CHS yearbook (1921), which was
called Home Runs (see photo to the
right). Two years later, editor-in-chief
William Britton “Brit” Knight and
his student staff published the second
CHS yearbook (1923), which they
called Pine Burr. Nineteen years
later (1942) editor Martha Jane
Brown and assistant editor Robert
Louis Green produced the third
CHS yearbook, the first to be named
The Columbian, the name also of
future yearbooks. The fourth yearbook was published in 1947, there
was no yearbook in 1948, the 5th was in 1949, and there was one

The 1923 CHS class also produced the first CHS student
newspaper and called it The C.H. Sifter. Their football team around
1924 was called the CHS Terrors.
