The CHS 1928 - 1929 girls’ basketball team

Memorial Stadium in Lake City
Memorial Stadium (see photo below) went into use in 1923
as a football field. At that time the field had no seats for spectators so
people just stood to watch the games, a common practice. In 1949 it
was named Memorial Stadium in honor of those American soldiers
who fought and died in World War II. Among the players who played
on the field was famous sports announcer Pat Summerall. Today
city youth teams use the field.
