who shall be appointed by the Mayor of the City of
Lake City until the next general election for the 36/257
city officers, when he shall be elected by the
qualified electors of said city and he shall hold
his office for the term of one year and he shall be
elected annually thereafter as other officers of the
said city are elected. His salary shall be fixed
by the city council, but shall not be reduced from
the present amount now received by the Chief
of Police of said city during his present term of
office.
Sec. 11. That the Tax Assessor heretofore
elected by the City Council of said City of Lake
City, shall be elected at the next general election
of city officers by the qualified electors of said
city as other officers of said city are elected for the
term of two years and for the term of two years
thereafter. Provided, Nothing in this Act shall ef
fect the present incumbent during his term of
office, nor in any way change or modify his power,
duties or compensation, which shall be the same as
now provided by law.
Sec. 12. Nothing in this Act contained shall
impair the validity of any assessment of taxes by
the city or the town of Lake City prior to the
taking effect of the same.
Sec. 13. All laws and parts of laws in conflict
with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed
so far as they effect the said city.
Sec. 14. This Act shall become a law immedi
ately upon its approval by the Governor, or upon
its becoming a law without his approval.
