The work experience program  of
                                                                          C.H .S.  provides for guidance and
                                                                          work experience in  school and  on
                                                                          the job that would allow for direction
                                                                          and aid  in personal adjustment and
                                                                          the desire to stay in school.
                                                                            Work experience permits
                                                                          students to earn  money but at the
                                                                          same time receive an education in a
                                                                          supervised school  program. The
                                                                          working student is  allowed to use
                                                                          his working  experience toward
                                                                          elective units for graduation. The
                                                                          Distributive Education program of
                                                                          Columbia High School has helped
                                                                          many students obtain a well paying
                                                                          job that could have a great influence
                                                                          on their future. The D.  E. program is
                                                                          mostly attractive to the students
                                                                          who are  not interested in
                                                                          immediately pursuing a college
                                                                          education but want on  the job
                                                                          training  in such fields as:  Trade,
                                                                          Business, Occupation , Industry, and
                                                                          Distribution.  Whatever the job may
                                                                          be,  the students benefit financially
                                                                          from it. They are given expert advice
                                                                          and direction from the hands of: Mr.
                                                                          Richard  Kalich,  Mr.  Frank Albury,
                                                                          Mr.  Marcus Giddens,  Mr. Eddie
                                                                          Long , Mr.  Dyess  Coury,  Mr. W.  T.
                                                                          Long,  and  Mr.  Silas Pittman.
