Eschappe, Ret eve, Pas de Bourret These words along with many other French
dance terms will forever be embedded in our subconscious minds. As graduates
of the 1990 school term we are reminded of many fun filled experiences.
Dance club has prospered more so this past year than the previous two years
it has been in existence. The club visited an additional elementary school during
the Halloween holiday. Here various ghostly costumes mixed with fairy queens
and princesses danced to "Macabre." The primary purpose for this event was
to warn youngsters of the hazards in regards to "trick or treating." Mr. Town·
send, our school resource officer, helped organize this outing.
Needless to say, however, no one deserves the credit more so than Mrs.
Wright, our teacher, our sponsor, our friend. At times, I'm sure there must have
been moments she fell like kicking us in our tutu (with toe shoes) however she
simply pressed us onward with strenuous exercises.
In January, eleven representatives from Florida School of the Arts were
invited to come to CHS for an assembly in the gym. During this assembly, ten of
the dancers demonstrated their ability in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dances. After
the assembly, Dance Club officers held a luncheon for their guests. After lunch,
the representatives spoke to the three dance classes about Florida School of
the Arts and taught the advanced class and any one else that was interested a These dancers are all smiles after a job well done. Members gave many
dance that would be in one of their upcoming productions. performances throughout the community.
Echappe, reteve, pas de bourre, this punishment helps prepare Dance Club
for the annual Spring Recital held in the Performing Arts Center at Lake City
Community College. This past year's recital was entitled "The Frog Princess."
