The CHS Soccer Team, only in its
second year, finished with 8 wins, 10
losses, and 1 tie. Many players from
last year's team returned to further
their soccer skills. Sophomores Scott
Samera, Robert Crawford, Charlie Hol-
lis, Eric Boone, Ricky Bedoya, and
Pete Smith all had prior experience in
the Jr. High Team. All of the players
joined together to form the best soccer
team this school has seen yet.
Another new addition to the team is
the coach, Mr. Crane. Although he has
not coached a varsity sport before, he
has had experience in coaching and
refereeing the Columbia Youth Soccer
Association. He did an outstanding job
with the players, stressing teamwork
and finesse. With the help of the soc-
cer managers, Lori McQuaig, Steph-
anie Daughtry, Jeannie Gray, and Shel-
ley Jones, Coach Crane was able to
practice without worrying about gath-
ering balls. He was also able to con-
centrate on the game while the manag-
ers wrote down the stats. This year's
team was good, but next year's team is
looking better with the return of sever-
al key team players. Senior Ryan Westover shows off his moves with some fancy footwork against the opposing team.
