On November 1, 1989, the Columbia High
School's basketball team didn't start practicing, but
started a body regimen to get their bodies ready to
begin practicing.
December 1, 1989 practice began. We began go-
ing over plays and getting the feel of playing with
each other as a team. We started out with 15 play-
ers then 3 were cut from the team. We kicked off the
season with 12 players. They were senior forward,
Albert Mosley; senior guard, Dekoven Belvin; senior
center, Terry LeGree; junior point guard, Donay Full-
wood; senior point guard, Anthony Taylor; junior
center Anthony Caldwell; junior guard, Anthony Hall;
junior forward, Greg O'Neal; junior point guard,
Chuck Edwards; junior guard Katron Jones; junior
guard, Mike Murphy; and junior forward, Lenard
Shinhoster. We were off to a winning season.
We finished the season 14-11. Last year our re-
cord wasn't that good. We wanted to win ball games
this season and we did - with the help of Head
Coach L.C. Bradley and Assistant Coach Tony
Eady. The coaches assisted us in practice one on
one.
The game of basketball treats you like you treat it.
If you treat it like nothing, you get back nothing. If
you give it your all, it will give its all back to you.
Doing well academically is very important also.
Academic scores and being an outstanding basket-
ball player can result in a scholarship for the individ-
ual. A player must not only work hard on the basket-
ball court, he must also work hard with his school
studies. The work in the classroom is just as hard
and important.
This team, 1989-1990, was good. But next year's
team promises to be even better.
