BOY'S WEIGHTLIFTING

The Columbia Weightlifting team has
gotten off to a great start with a 1-1 record.
There are four state finalists returning from
last year's team: Andre Copeland,
Jeremiah Fulton, Torian Shepherd, and
Tony Fulton. The rest of the team is very
young, but with the veteran lifters from last
year there is a good shot at competing at
the state level.
Rick Jones, a senior on the team,
says, "We have a good chance at sending
at least ten people to state this year. We
have a good team." Coaches Chad
Mobley, Frank Beasley, and Billy Young
agree that they have a very talented group
of guys.
Weightlifting is a sport that requires
dedication and hard work. Hopefully there
will be many state champions to add to
the great weightlifting history of CHS.
