Time to tan! Two months of fun in the sun, late nights, and loud music.
This is the time of the year we spend the least amount of time at home. Trips
to the river are usually how it is done by the teenagers of Lake City.
Traveling to Ichetucknee, Santa Fe, or Suwannee because the beach is just
too far of a drive. Waking up in the morning bathing suit on, hair up, and sun
block in hand is the best feeling. You just know you will be in the freezing
water within minutes. There is so much to do at the river. Everyone knows
"Bob's Place", where you can experience swinging 30 feet in the air or
going down one of the many water slides. Grab your best friend, challenge
a boy or maybe your enemy and go mud wrestling.
Maybe you prefer to fish or just like riding with the wind rushing
through your hair. My advice is to get a friend with a boat-quick. You could
anchor just about anywhere and jump off for some swimming or stay on the
boat for some fishing. It's really fun to connect a float to the boat and just
bask in the sun and relax. Sometimes you can even see manatee swimming
around playing with some of the swimmers.
Tenth grader Clay McCauley explains his definition of fun at the
River, "me and my friends always have the most fun just messing around in
the water and diving to the bottom with goggles." When I asked Shyam Patel
(11th grade) what he sees in the river he replied ''I always see fish - they are
so dope, but I hate when the seaweed touches my feet- it's gross."
Not only can you find fish in the seaweed, but also random things like
goggles, jewelry, even money. No wonder everyone hangs out at the river,
it's always different and NEVER boring!

Every molecule in your body feels as if it is on fire. You swmg.
are vibrating along with the buzzing of the amps, rum-
bling like an angry fire breathing dragon, and the air
in the room is thick with the smell of sweat. The ex-
citement swells in your chest as the band approaches
the stage and your heart is about to reach its bursting
point. The lead guitarist starts his riff and every atom in
your body explodes at the same time and your natural
instincts take
over. You start
dancing and
bouncing to the
music. Swing-

how concerts are
for me anyway.
They make me
feel so pumped.
