His third wife was the mother of a large group, of which Denver and Boston are
the youngest.
Great Uncle Tom Dicks, their daddy, had an unusual habit of naming his
children after geographic locations. The actual registered birth names of some
of those children were Spain Dicks, Cincinnati Dicks, Alabama Dicks, Denver
Dicks, and Boston Dicks.
I do not know if Uncle Tom got the idea from this or not, but their mother was
named Georgia.
The interesting thing which I earlier referred to about Denver and Boston is
the fact that if either of them can manage to live until the year 2019, which is
only9years, it will be aease ofliving 200 years after the grandfather was bom.
It is remarkable that there is a lifetime spread which presently exists.
The annual Dicks Family Reunion is held each second Sunday in October at
Hopeftd Baptist Church. Regular Sunday service begins at 11AM and the
Dicks Reunion follows. All are welcome.
