Some Stuff I Wrote and Some Stuff I Didn't (2011) H. Morris Williams
The 2002 Lake City Annual Report
Is Dedicated to James “Ronnv” Minchia
Ronny began his career with the City of Lake City on May 13, 1963,
after graduating from Florida State University
He was initially employed in an entry-level position with the Customer
Service Department; however, on February 6, 1964 the Mayor and City
Council promoted him to City Clerk.
Ronny has held the Clerk position for almost forty years, longer than
anyone else in the history of the City.
As City Clerk, Ronny is the “money man” of the City.
From payroll to paying bills, retirement fund to multi-million dollar
bond issues, Ronny was the one that kept everyone on course and out of
trouble and kept money in the bank.
He has worked with five Mayors, numerous City Council members and
is a past president of the Jaycees.
He was also around to see and participate in many “firsts” in Lake City;
the first Charter for the City, first City Manager, first African-American
Council member, first female Council member, first four lane highway
and even the first electric typewriter, calculator and computers in City
Hall.
Few of us have the opportunity to make an indelible mark on our
hometown.
Ronny’s ‘City-above-Self dedication leaves a legacy that will live long
after his retirement.
Those of us who continue to live and work in Lake City will reap the
benefits of his efforts and be able to proudly say.... I’m from Lake City.
Thank you Ronny!
