Some Stuff I Wrote and Some Stuff I Didn't (2011) H. Morris Williams
Naming the Alfonso Levy Performing Arts Center
By Muriel Kay Heimer, Lake City Community College (Now FGC) President
October 1993
It is a pleasure to honor Dr. Alfonso Levy, a man who has unselfishly and tirelessly
contributed to our community.
Coming from a humble background, he was bom with the soul of an artist and has
never lost sight of his art.
He has taught our children. He is one of this country’s most outstanding teachers
and education administrators, touching the lives of thousands of students and
families in Columbia County.
He has supported our organizations. He has soothed us with his artistry. And he
has been a leader among citizens from all walks of life.
When times are difficult, he serves as a mediator and peacemaker. When times are
good, he warms all of us with his joy and his zest for life.
It is fitting and proper that we dedicate this Performing Arts Center to this citizen.
Let all future generations of students and citizens know this was a man who dared
and this was man who cared.
Congratulations, Dr. Levy, upon the naming of this facility as the Alfonso Levy
Performing Arts Center.
