PEER COUNSELING . ..
. . . ON THE MOVE
Did you ever wonder just what peer
counseling does?
Yeah, they have the fun job of escorting
new students around school, but that's just
one of the many activities bestowed upon
Mrs. Couey and her peer counseling group.
One major project of this group is their
puppet shows. The shows are usually
geared toward elementary students.
The group uses both handicapped and
abused puppet kids to relay a story. The
goal is to explain different handicaps so
that kids will understand that handicap
people are normal.
Taking his job as narrator very Donna Frampton reads over
"Whenever the child abuse sections are her lines as her puppet looks
seriously is Fred Fielding.
presented there is always a kid who will say on.
"My dad broke my arm or something to
that effect," added sponsor Mrs. Twigg
Couey, who enjoys watching the kids de-
velop and build confidence. The group even
gets audience interaction when using signs.
Some other activities include:
,. tutoring kids at the kindergarten
,. working with kids at Eastside
,. discussing teen problems
,. building self-confidence
,. leadership
The group also hopes to travel to Nash-
ville to participate in the International Con-
ference sponsored by CARC. So as you can
