Lake City, Florida: A Sesquicentennial Tribute (2009) H. Morris Williams, Dr. Kevin M. McCarthy
Chapter Fifteen: 1950 - 1959
Two other Lake Citians prominent in Florida education were
Crockett Farnell, school superintendent in Hillsborough County in
the 1950s; and A. Ross Evans, a distinguished professor of
accounting at Rollins College. Ross (a cousin and dear friend of Dr.
Richard Adicks) graduated from the University of Florida in 1934. A
fine portrait of him hangs in the Crummer School of Business at Rollins
College in Winter Park, Florida.

on what is now the V.A. Medical Center grounds
(see photo next page of that monument)
The monument mysteriously disappeared some time ago from
the V.A. Hospital grounds. A chief supervisor at the Veterans Admin-
istration said that he had seen it, but that it later disappeared. (Per-
haps readers of this book can help in pointing out where the monu-
ment is now.)
