                               Charter oj the City of Lake City
                   Sec 40. The officers elected shall be notified
               of their election and be qualified by taking the                    90/257
               oath prescribed by the laws of Florida; but
               Provided, That officers who give bonds shall enter
               upon their duties by taking the oath of office and
               filing their bonds to be approved by the Council.
                   Sec. 41. In case any officer fails to qualify
              within thirty days after the canvass such office
               shall be declared vacant, and the City Council
               shall fill such vacancy in the manner provided by
               Section 19 of the City Charter.

                   Sec. 42. Where the question of issuing bonds
               is submitted to the vote of the people, a special
               election shall be held for that purpose. Such
               election shall be advertised, for not less than thirty-
               days, in some newspaper published in the city. No
               person shall be allowed to vote at such special
               election for such purpose who is not a qualified
               elector, who owns real estate or personal property
               in said city, and who has paid the taxes thereon
               last due.

                   Sec. 43. All bar rooms, saloons and other
               places for the sale of liquors by retail, shall be
               closed at 6 o’clock on the evening preceding day
               of any election and shall remain closed until 6
               o’clock in the morning of the day thereafter, and
               during the time aforesaid the sale of all intoxica­
               ting liquors is prohibited. Any person who shall
               be convicted of a violation of this section, shall be
               punished by a fine not less than one hundred nor
               more than two hundred dollars or by imprison­
               ment for not more than sixty days, or by both
              such fine and imprisonnent.

                   Sec. 44. Any person violating any of the
              provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction
