the odd habit of paying his debts and spending less than he makes.” Once Fuller got elected
governor, he, himself, did something “strange” by the standards of those days - he outlawed cattle

from Florida’s highways where once they had roamed freely.
Mainly Bottom... in 1949, Ressie Smith pushed Harry Roberts nine blocks down Marion

Street in an iron bottomed wheelbarrow to pay off an election bet. When the ride was over, you
would have thought that Harry was the loser: “I was sore from top to bottom, mainly bottom.”

My other family... A bunch of us who went to CHS in the 1940s and early 1950s will have

togethers for over 25 years and they get sweeter as the years go by. So, here’s a reminder to all my

Class reunion rosters . . . The CHS alumni Association is trying to compile a roster of

names and addresses of CHS alumni. If you have one for your class, please mail it to P. O. Box 706,
Lake City, 32056. Even outdated or incomplete lists will help a lot.

Dr. Mont’s Biography, an update. . .Three weeks ago, this column announced the
impending publication of the biography of the late Dr. E. F. Montgomery, Sr. This book was put

together by his son, Ed. Since then, Ed has improved and expanded the book which now runs more
than 200 pages with photographs. This extra work has slightly delayed the publication date, until

February 1. Ed will announce then just when and where the book will be available. It’s going to be
              great!
