Sec. 6. Any person violating any of the pro
visions shall be punished by a fine of not more 97/257
than one hundred dollars or imprisonment in the
city jail for not more than sixty days.
ORDINANCE No. 5-C
AN ORDINANCE relating to the sanitation of
places where food stuffs are manufactured
or kept for sale.
Section 1. Every person keeping, maintain
ing, or having charge of any factory, public or
private market, stall, shop, store house, warehouse,
cold storage, cart, wagon, or other vehicle, in or
from which any meats, fish, oysters, fowl, vegetable,
fruit, milk, or other provisions, are manufactured,
stored or offered for sale, as food for human beings,
shall keep the same clean and in a wholesome
condition; all such foods, prepared foods, products
and candies exposed for sale in open receptacles
or broken packages shall be kept not less than six
inches above the floor of the buildings or place
where they are so exposed and shall be protected
in such manner as to prevent dust, flies and insects
from coming in contact with the same; cut fresh
meats, freah fish, and all fresh fruits, except
citrus fruits, melons, bananas and apples, ex
posed for sale shall be kept in properly venti
lated cases or in receptacles having glass tops.
No food shall be exposed or displayed for sale
upon any box, table, shelf or other object on any
street, sidewalk, alley or public place, except in
such places as may be designated as public markets,
except wagons from which food stuffs are being
peddled; all food so peddled from wagons
shall be carefully covered so as to protect the same
from flies and dust.
