Charter of the City of Lake City
Sec. 2. All automobiles or other conveyance
as above described shall, by the owner or person 102/257
having the same in his custody, management or
control, be entered of record in a book kept
for that purpose by the City Clerk of the
City of Lake City, showing the name of the manu
facturer, amount of horse power, seating capacity,
kind of motor power used, and name of owner or
agent having same in custody, management or
control; and such Automobile or other vehicle
as above described shall then be numbered as
directed by the City Clerk and lettered with the
letters “L. C.,” and such number or numbers
and letters shall be furnished by the owner or
agent of any such vehicle or conveyance as above
described; and shall be hung upon the same in
such manner as to be plainly visible from the rear,
affixed, stamped or printed thereon in figures and
letters not less than three inches in height and two
inches in width, for the letter and for such each
number, before any such Automobile or other con
veyance or vehicle as described above shall be
run or caused to be run upon any of the streets,
avenues, or other highways of the City of Lake
City; Provided, That the person owning, controlling
or managing any such conveyance or vehicle as
above described, who has paid a license in any of
the states other than the State of Florida; or has
paid a City license in any other City of the State
of Florida; shall, upon the exhibition of such license
be exempt from the requirement of this section
for the period of ten days after such Automobile
or other conveyance as above described shall
have been brought into the City of Lake City.
