make, shall be placed in sanitary condition as may
be required by the inspector, by alteration or re 197/257
moval and replacement by others, by the owner of
such premises promptly after notice. All closets
and fixtures of every character shall at all times be
provided with an ample supply of water to keep
same clean and thoroughly washed out. Ditches
or trenches for sewer pipes shall be of depth and
size ordered by the inspector and water supply
pipes shall in no case be made to occupy the same
ditch or trench with sewer pipes. No paint or
putty shall be allowed in joints and no joints shall
be painted until after inspection, test and approval.
All joints must be made as directed by inspector or
this ordinance. No brick, earthenware or sheet
metal shall be used for ventilation. All iron pipes
must be of the. grade commercially known as
standard pipes and the fittings used in the connec
tions therewith must correspond in weight and
quality. Lead pipes, where used, must not be
lighter than “D” pipe of three and one half pounds
per foot for one and one half-inch size and so on in
proportion.
Sec. 27. That any person or persons violating,
resisting, or neglecting or refusing to comply with
any of the provisions of this ordinance or any other
and further rules and regulations hereunder, is
hereby declared guilty of a misdemeanor and sub
ject to arrest therefor and shall upon conviction
thereof before the Mayor be punished by a fine of
not less than Five Dollars nor more than Five
Hundred Dollars or imprisonment in the City
jail for a period not to exceed sixty days or by
both such fine and imprisonment at the discre
tion of the Mayor.
