tenance of such union passenger station at the
point above indicated, and upon the granting of the
concessions hereinafter set forth have announced 230/257
their intention to proceed to the erection of the
same;
And whereas, it has been made to appear to
the satisfaction of the Mayor and Council of said
City that it is necessary for the proper and effect
ive use of said union passenger station at the point
indicated and to facilitate the use of the same by
the traveling public, to minimize the dangers
attendant thereupon, and to enable the companies
operating said union passenger station to properly
control ingress and egress to and from the same,
that that portion of the streets known as Taylor
street and Calhoun street from a point ten feet
south of the tracks of the Florida Central & Penin
sular Railroad Company north to the intersection
with Palmetto street and Catawba street respect
ively, and Palmetto street and Catawba street from
a point ten feet north of the track of the Georgia
Southern & Florida Railway Company south of the
intersection with Taylor street and Calhoun street,
respectively, be discontinued and closed to the
public streets and highways of said City, and leased
to said companies jointly, their successors, and
assigns, with full power and control over the same
for the purpose aforesaid, perpetually, or until
said companies, their successors and assigns, shall
have ceased permanently to maintain and operate
at said point a union passenger station;
Now, therefore, for the purpose aforesaid, and
in order to further encourage the erection and
maintenance of said union passenger station, to
facilitate the advantages of the citizens of said
City, and the traveling public at the same, and to
