reduce to the minimum the dangers attendant
thereupon, and to enable the companies operating
the same to control egress and ingress to and from 231/257
said station.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and City Council of the
City of Lake City, Florida:
Sec. 1. That Taylor street and Calhoun street
in said City, from a point ten feet south of the
track of the Florida Central & Peninsular Railroad
Company north to the intersection of Palmetto
street and Catawba street, respectively, and Pal
metto street and Catawba street from a point ten
feet north of the track of the Georgia Southern &
Florida Railway Company south to the intersec
tion with Taylor street and Calhoun street, re
spectively, be and they are hereby discontinued
and closed to the public as public streets and high
ways of said City, and leased to said companies,
jointly, their successors and assigns, with full power
and control over the same for the purpose afore
said, perpetually, or until said companies, their
successors and assigns, shall have ceased to main
tain and operate at this point on the line of their
said railroads as now located, between the streets
aforesaid, a union passenger station.
Sec. 2. That the portions of said streets here
inabove designated and described are hereby set
over and leased to said companies, their successors
and assigns, for the purpose of furthering the erec
tion and facilitating the use of said union passenger
station, minimizing the danger attendant to the
citizens of said City and the traveling public
using same, and to enable the companies operating
said station to properly control ingress and egress to
and from said union passenger station. The dis
