or other like machines within said city, whether the
same be propelled by hand, horse or steam power, 61/257
on which persons are charged for riding, shall pay
a license tax of twenty dollars for the privilege of
operating same, whether said license is taken out
for the whole or part of the year; and each vendor of
any kind of goods, wares or merchandise, and for
each stand for the sale or barter of any kind of
property, tricks or notions whatsoever, the man
agers of which travel with or are connected in any
way with any circus or show or any person or per
sons who do any kind of business on show or circus
grounds on a show day, shall pay a license tax of
three dollars for each day they do such business.
Minstrel shows showing under tents shall pay a
license tax of fifteen dollars for each day they show
or give performance.
Sec. 17. Owners or managers of opera housse
who use or rent the same for any kind of shows or
performances shall pay a license tax of twenty-five
dollars and no fractional license shall be issued.
Sec. 18. All traveling picture or book agents or
persons soliciting for the enlargement of pictures
shall pay a license tax of five dollars for the privi
lege of doing such business within said city. No
fractional license shall be issued for such purposes;
Provided, That no licensed dealers in merchandise
shall be required to pay such license tax; Provided,
That such dealer does not solicit orders except in
his place of business..
*Sec. 19. That traveling salesmen or dealers who
shall bargain to sell any goods, wares, or merchan
dise, including beer, wines or liquors for cash or by
sample or in any other manner other for present or
