thereto. And any dog found within said City
without one of said tags upon its neck shall be 108/257
deemed to be a nuisance and shall be disposed
of as hereinafter provided.
Sec. 4. It shall be the duty of the City Marshal
and all policemen or any other person duly ap
pointed for that purpose, to catch, take up and
impound in such pound as may be provided by
the City Council any dog found within said City
on the streets not having a collar around its neck
and one of said metal tags attached thereto and
should any such dog not be redeemed after five
days notice in writing, describing said dog, shall
have been posted at the Postoffice, corner of
Railroad and Marion Streets and at the County
Court House, shall forthwith be killed or caused
to be killed by the Marshal of said City. The
officers and other persons named in this ordinance
as being authorized to catch, take up and impound
such dogs shall be paid a fee of one dollar for their
services in impounding such dog, such fee to be
paid out of the City general funds and such officer
or person shall receive no other compensation
therefor.
Sec. 5. That the City Marshal shall be in
charge of the dog pound and in order to redeem
any dog impounded under the provisions of this
ordinance, the person desiring to redeem such dog
shall pay to the City Marshal the sum of one dollar
and ten cents per day for each and every day same
shall have been impounded and upon which pay
ment being made, said dog shall be released; and
it shall be the duty of the City Marshal to keep a
register and account of all dogs impounded, sold,
killed or redeemed under the provisions of this
