Charter of the City of Lake City
Sec. 6. During the progress of any fire the
Marshal and police force shall be under the 112/257
direction of the Chief of the Fire Department for
the purpose of enforcing all ordinances, rules and
regulations pertaining to the subject of fires.
Sec. 7. For the purpose of preventing any
unnecessary friction between the Fire Department
and the waterworks plant, the engineer and parties
in charge of the waterworks shall be under the
control and supervision of the Chief of the Fire
Department during the progress of any fire, and
the Chief of the Fire Department may order the
shutting down of electric light plant during a
fire, in order to prevent danger from live wires.
Sec. 8. It shall be the duty of the Chief of the
Fire Department to regularly inspect all fire hy
drants in the City and see that they are kept in
good working condition.
Sec. 9. The Chief of the Fire Department shall
have control and supervision of all fire apparatus,
hose carts, ladders, etc., and it shall be his duty
to see that they are kept in condition for prompt
use in emergencies.
Sec. 10. The gong on the Court House
Square shall be connected with the gong at the
waterworks and the bell at the residence of the
Chief of the Fire Department in such manner as
will instantly transmit any alarm.
Sec. 11. No person shall place or permit to
accumlate in or about any building within the fire
limits, any accumulation of paper, shavings
excelsior, rags, waste or other combustible material,
and it shall be the duty of the Chief of the Fire
