Department to see that, the provisions of this
section are complied with.
Sec. 12. No merchant or other person shall 113/257
keep or have within the City limits any nitro
glycerine, dynamite or other violently explosive
material; Provided, That gun powder may be so
kept by private persons in quantities not exceeding
two pounds, upon any building or premises; and
Provided, further, That any merchant dealing in
gun powder may keep the same in a strong metallic-
covered, tightly closed box, readily removed in
case of fire, in quantity not exceeding one hundred
pounds, and such box shall be painted red and shall
be conspicuously labeled “Gun Powder,” and shall
be kept in a place readily accessible for the pur
pose of removal.
It shall be unlawful for any person to keep
within the city limits, exceeding one case of gas
oline, benzine or naptha, and the case holding
such gasoline, benzine or naptha shall be painted
red and conspicuously marked, describing the
contents, and shall be placed so as to be readily
removable in case of fire. It shall be the duty of
the Chief of the Fire Department to see that the
provisions of this section are complied with.
Sec. 13. It shall be the duty of the Chief of
the Fire Department when he shall discover any
stove pipe or chimney which he shall deem to be in
such condition as to be a source of danger for fires,
to require the tenent or occupant of the house
where such stove pipe or chimney is, to remedy
the same within twelve hours, and on the failure
or refusal of such tenant or occupant to remedy
the same, offender shall be brought before the
