                or repair of such sidewalk or pavement and the
                amount paid by the city for the same shall be a
                lien upon said lot or lots along which such side­                  126/257
                walk or pavements is constructed or repaired; and
                such amount may be assessed as a special tax
                against the lot or lots adjoining with such sidewalk
                or foot pavement, shall be contructed or repaired,
                or the same may be enforced by a suit at law or in
                equity against said lot or lots or the owner thereof,
                before any court of competent jurisdiction.



                                 ORDINANCE No. 18.
                                         Nuisiances.
                     Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person
                to place, throw or deposit any trash or rubbish of
                any kind whatever into or upon any street, alley
                or public place of the city, except by written per­
                mission from the Street Committee first obtained.
                     Sec. 2. All occupants of premises within the
                city are required to conforn to the orders of the
                health officer, Marshal or police in keeping such
                premises free from trash or offensive matter of
                any kind, and such persons as are notified either
                orally or in writing by the Marshal or a police
                officer, to remove any nuisance, trash, filth or
                rubbish from premises occupied by them, shall
                remove'the same within eighteen hours from the
                service of such notice.

                     Sec. 3. Any person who shall violate the pro­
                visions of this ordinance shall be fined not exceed­
                ing one hundred dollars or imprisonment not
                exceeding thirty days.

                     Sec. 4. It shall be the duty of the sanitary com­
                mittee to inspect all buildings which they may
