the provisions of this ordinance shall vest in the
grantee to such deeds all the right, title and inter 217/257
est of the City in and to the estate so conveyed.
ORDINANCE No. 54.
Duties of Marshal
Sec. 1. That -the City marshal henceforth
elected at the regular City election in and for the
City of Lake City, Florida, be and is hereby de
clared to be ex-officio chief of police of said City.
Sec. 2. That it shall be the duty of said chief
of police to perform such duties as are now re
quired of the city marshal by the charter and
ordinances of the City of Lake City, Florida, and
such other and further duties as are hereinafter
mentioned.
Sec. 3. That he shall at all times preserve
the public peace, prevent crime, detect and arrest
offenders, suppress riots, protect the rights of per
sonal property, guard the public health, preserve
order at elections, see that nuisances are removed,
restrain disorderly houses, assist, advise and pro
tect strangers and travelers in public streets, or
railway stations, enforce all laws relating to the
suppression and punishment of crime and to the
public health and to disorderly persons and all
ordinances and resolutions of the City Council in
relation to police, health, criminal procedure,
and see that the police of the City enforce the same.
Sec. 4. That it shall be the duty of said chief
of police to take in charge all property furnished
the police department of the City, keep, preserve
and maintain the same. He shall have charge of
